Relationship between Sensitivity Tendency and Psychological Stress Reactivity in Healthy Students

This study examined the relationship between sensory processing sensitivity and psychological stress reactivity in 69 healthy Japanese university students. The Japanese version of the Highly Sensitive Person Scale and the Japanese version of the Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile were used for subjective assessment. The Galvanic skin response was measured as an objective measure of stress responses while the participants were completing the Stroop task. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test, the Spearman rank correlation coefficient, and the Mann–Whitney U test were conducted for data analysis. The results demonstrated that there was no significant correlation between the Japanese version of the Highly Sensitive Person Scale and Galvanic skin response. However, there was a marginal trend toward significance between low registration in the Japanese version of the Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile and Galvanic skin response (rs = 0.231, p < 0.10;rs = 0.219, p < 0.10), suggesting that self-rated sensitivity was not necessarily associated with objective measures. These results indicate that sensory processing sensitivity analyses require the consideration of the traits and characteristics of the participants and multifaceted evaluations using a sensitivity assessment scale other than the Japanese version of the Highly Sensitive Person Scale.

Social determinants of mental well-being: senses of powerlessness and empowerment among Romani in Ukraine

Purpose>The purpose of this paper is to explore senses of powerlessness and empowerment among Romani in Ukraine in relation to such social circles as the extended family, the Romani local community and the whole Ukrainian society. The main research interest is focused on situations and factors that make people feel powerless or empowered.Design/methodology/approach>The study was conducted using a semi-structured interview method via telephone. Romani NGO experts approved the interview content. Trained Roma-facilitators were interviewers. Every interview was transcribed for further thematic analysis.Findings>The most prominent empowerment factors for Romani people are located within their families and local communities, while the bigger society (Ukrainians themselves and Ukrainian public institutions) is a main source of powerlessness. At the same time, the rigid role of family and community expectations is seen as detrimental for both males and females.Originality/value>The paper is original in terms of its topic (senses of powerlessness and empowerment among Romani in Ukraine as social determinants of mental well-being) and research strategy (engagement of Roma-facilitators as interviewers).

Consumer Perception of Novel Restaurant Hygiene Certificates and Evaluation Criteria for Food Safety

As more people consume food away from home, there is growing interest in hygienic conditions at restaurants. To respond to public concerns, the Korean Health Department has developed and implemented a new restaurant hygiene certificate system. This study investigated how the new restaurant hygiene certificate has been accepted by the public by measuring the perception of message quality and evaluation criteria for restaurant food safety practices. This study used an online survey to collect data and analyzed the data with an independent t-test, exploratory factor analysis, Mann-Whitney U test, and Kruskal-Wallis H test. Questionnaires determined restaurant hygiene certificate awareness, message quality, and evaluation criteria regarding restaurant food safety practices, general eating out behaviors, and demographic characteristics. Significant differences in message quality were found among respondents who were aware of the certificates and those who were not. There were significant demographic differences in the four factors respondents used to evaluate food safety practices at restaurants: restaurant hygiene certificates, cleanliness, sensory perception, and restaurant image. The results of this study suggest that the restaurant hygiene certificate system has been well received by the public but requires greater restaurant participation for enhanced public awareness.

Attitude impaction of information and perception to digital dental practices in respect to coronavirus outbreak

Objectives: Objectives: The study's main aim is to assess the deep understanding and perception of dental practices to manage the digital facilities against coronavirus. Methods: A structured survey was assigned to all dentists practicing an online link Google form and transferred via Facebook, Viber, Telegram, and what's app official dental/medical faculty groups for 3-months from 13 February to 13 May 2020. The questionnaire examined members' awareness regarding coronavirus results, patient identification from the orofacial exhibition as a presumption control measure then understanding of dental staff to proper digital valuability. The statistical analysis was conducted utilizing simple SPSS Statistics V22.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). Results: A sum of 250 participants answered the questionnaire. Overall, the awareness was beneficial with some distinct responses in control measures against quickening of outbreak ultimately. Nevertheless, coronavirus appeared extremely important and pandemic. Still, the attention toward adopting digital facilities in dental practices was critical and proportionate with overall understanding of the route of transmission, patient protections, and quality development protocols to lessen the chance of an outbreak in the dental practice area. The awareness was acceptable because of an efficiency of 60% and a validity of 45% scores to save time and cost in dropping COVID-19 outbreak. Conclusion: Best dental health care instructions rely on control measures of understanding and knowledge of dental practices workforce. Educational operations need to concentrate on those two concepts given special attention by logical activation of the digital dental workflow instead of traditional, particularly in times of crisis like coronavirus. El análisis estadístico se realizó utilizando SPSS Statistics V22.0 simple (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, EE.UU.). Resultados: Un total de 250 participantes respondieron el cuestionario. En general, la conciencia fue beneficiosa con algunas respuestas distintas en las medidas de control contra la aceleración del brote en última instancia. Sin embargo, el coronavirus parecía extremadamente importante y pandémico. Aún así, la atención hacia la adopción de instalaciones digitales en las prácticas dentales fue crítica y proporcionada con la comprensión general de la ruta de transmisión, las protecciones del paciente y los protocolos de desarrollo de calidad para disminuir la posibilidad de un brote en el área de la práctica dental. La consciencia de que somos aceptables debido a la eficiencia del 60% y las puntuaciones de validez del 45% para ahorrar tiempo y costos en la eliminación del brote de COVID-19. Conclusión: Las mejores instrucciones para el cuidado de la salud dental se basan en medidas de control de comprensión y conocimiento de la fuerza laboral de las prácticas dentales. Las operaciones educativas deben concentrarse en esos dos conceptos a los que se les presta especial atención mediante la activación lógica del flujo de trabajo dental digital en lugar de los tradicionales, particularmente en tiempos de crisis como el coronavirus.
